The context

Our experience with using huunuu to facilitate our Team away day, has been fantastic. We had been thinking about an away day for a while, but struggling with pulling a coherent day together. Our team already know each other fairly well, but with hybrid working and a few new team members, we really wanted to connect again and understand each other better to facilitate our team working going forward. This was especially important as we are going through a time of huge organisational change, so the teams’ ability to support each other and stay strong in the face of adversity is likely to be tested.

Scoping out the project

Clare met with me a few weeks before the away day to understand my aims for the day and what our team could benefit from. She was able to demonstrate to me several resources and activities she proposed running and how they would fit overall with the aims for the day and the other content I wanted to deliver in the second part of our day. She was open, friendly and adaptable and really understood immediately what we were after.

The workshop

On the day itself, Clare got the team’s buy in really quickly with her fab informal style, but still pitched the sessions exactly right for a room of professional staff. She created a safe environment for the team to open up to each other and discuss what really makes them all tick. The team especially enjoyed engaging with both the ‘Trust continuum’ exercise and the Wellbeing mat, as they really came away from both understanding more about each other, and how we work. It was also lovely that we could take the filled-in mat away with us as a reminder of the day and the conversations we had had.

Outcomes

As a manager, this worked incredibly well for me as after this half day session with Clare, the team were really open and receptive to the Values work we then did in the afternoon. They were really engaged with each other and open to each others’ viewpoint. Clare had taken the time to round her session up in a way that set them up perfectly for their afternoon activity. As a result of the sessions she facilitated, the whole team came away with a better understanding of each other as individuals and was able to apply this to their working relationships. I can already see since the away day how they have become stronger as a group, and they have referenced things that were said at the away day several times. Many thanks again for all your help
